Why should I hire a professional when I can try and do it myself?
Pests are resilient and are adept at hiding and entering a home in places you would never think. A pest management professional will know where to look for pests and make expert recommendations on what it will take to prevent or eliminate pests.
Also, as a rule of thumb, most chemicals which ‘civilians’ can buy in a supermarket or hardware store are weak and will only last for a few months or cater to specific types of pests. A qualified pest control professional has undergone training and maintained their licensing in order to work with stronger, more effective, chemicals.
And, as a point of difference, at Integrity Pest Control Mackay we offer a 12-month warranty on our General Pest Treatment to give you peace of mind. So, why would you waste your time using an inferior, store bought product?
How long after the initial treatment does it take to see results?
Results will vary according to the type of pest, treatment methods and products used. For example, immediate results can be seen when a wasps’ nest is removed or treated with a liquid pesticide. However, when using baits for ants, rodents, and termites, the process takes longer since the pests have to ingest the product for it to be effective. When you consult with Integrity Pest Control Mackay, we will outline the expectations for your particular problem, so you have a clear understanding of the timeline.
What dangers do pests pose to my family?
Pests can pose a variety of threats to your family. They can be annoyances likes ants in the kitchen, or painful and irritating like insect stings or bed bug bites.
Then there are the severe health problems like rodents transmitting E. Coli or salmonella when they come into contact with your food or any number of pests who can cause respiratory or anaphylactic responses from allergies.
Pests can also cause problems to the safety and comfort of your home in the form of insects and small creatures frying your air-conditioner circuitry or wasps making a nest and ruining the enjoyment of your outdoor living area.
Finally, there are your furry family members who could be at risk from fleas and ticks sucking their blood and causing health issues or cane toads with their poisons skin which can be fatal to dogs upon minimal contact.
So, regardless of what your pest problem is, seeking treatment is always the best option for your family.
What are the most common household pests in Mackay and the Pioneer Valley?
The Mackay / Pioneer Valley ecosystem yields a wide array of pests that can be a nuisance to homeowners. Some of the most common include cockroaches, spiders, ants, silverfish, rats, mice, toads and possums.
What risks does the treatment of pest pose to my family or business?
Most pest control treatments are designed to be safe for use in the home and workplace. In fact, all the treatment options which Integrity Pest Control Mackay uses are safe for your family.
However, for your comfort, as sometimes the smell can become overwhelming, we do ask that your family temporarily vacates the premises while we apply the chemical sprays. A couple of hours should be all that we need to ensure that the sprays have thoroughly dried. That is just enough time to grab a cuppa.
Your pets will be fine to stay in the yard as we apply treatments.
Should I get pest done in my shed?
Garden sheds can be a haven for cockroaches, spiders and rats and mice. Therefore, for the most effective pest eradication, we at Integrity Pest Control Mackay do recommend all buildings on your property be treated.
What do I need to do before my pest treatment?
For your general pest treatment or flea and tick treatment to be as thorough as possible, we do require a few simple tasks to be completed. These include; moving any large pieces of furniture away from the corners of your home, having your kitchen counters or bathroom vanity as clear as possible, move any furniture or plants away from the exterior walls of the home, covering your aquariums and moving any inside pets outdoors (if possible).
If you forget to move furniture or cover your aquarium, our technicians will attend to this for you.
It is better for the effetiveness of your treatment if all lawns a mowed and whipper snipped before your technician arrives. This improves the depth of the treatment allowing it to take effect quicker and last longer.
How soon can I mop my floor after a treatment?
Good news for those who don’t like to mop their floors: for maximum effect of our barrier treatments we suggest you don’t wash the floor for about a week after application. However, it is ideal if the floors are mopped the day before, or even the morning of a treatment, to ensure that the spray attaches directly to the necessary surfaces.
When you do resume mopping the floor, if possible, avoid mopping right up to the skirting boards, as that is where the most concentrated amount of the chemical will be situated. And the longer it remains untouched, the better your protection will be.
The same principle applies for your windows: the longer you can leave it between cleans, the longer the treatment will last.
Do I need a flea and tick treatment in the home?
If you have had pets inside then, yes. If your pet had fleas, then whenever he or she went, so too did the flea eggs. When a pet sheds, they are also loosening the flea eggs which will then fall to the floor or into the couch or bed and lay dormant until they are roused. And, once they are in, they are tough to get rid of.
Even if your pets aren’t inside animals, it is still a good idea to have a flea and tick treatment done in the home as a flea can jump up to 5 meters: making it a short trip from the yard to the kitchen.
Can my pet die from ingesting rat bait?
There are certain brands of rat baits which can be fatal to household pets, so it is always advisable to do your research before bringing them into your home.
However, at Integrity Pest Control Mackay, we only use BETA Rat & Mouse bait stations. These unique rodent control options are child and pet-proof as they have a 2-key locking system and can be wall-mounted.
More importantly, it just takes one feed to kill a rat but, over 400 individual baits to kill a 15kg dog. So, even if your dog got a hold of the one bait inside the trap, it would have no effect on him or her.
